Located in the heart of the popular Abbeville Village area of Clapham, South London, our project to transform this typical Victorian terrace in Franconia Road, was the result of colloboration between our clients, Architect, interior designer Melanie Paskin, garden designer Sam Butler and of course the contractor – in this case BTL property. The client wanted to create ‘ A house with extraordinary light – so we introduced steel framed windows to the rear and a series of large rooflights above the new side and rear extensions. A series of coffers across the ceiling disguise the new structure, as well as helping to zone the different areas of the rear kitchen, (built by Riverwood Work Joinery) dining and living spaces. The garden, designed by Sam butler, was conceived as an extension of this living space, and materials were chosen to allow a seamless transition between inside and outside, as well as a visual backdrop to day to day family living.
