Valley Road is a development of 6 two bedroom units over an existing Garage Site. As with many garage and back land sites the project required a number of onerous planning conditions to be varied and discharged throughout the design and construction process. However, the result is a well-considered and profitable scheme. The development model looked to maximise the return on the site with 2 units retained for rental and 4 units sold swiftly after practical completion.

A balance of contemporary zinc elements and traditional brickwork create an interesting yet in keeping design. Large amounts of glazing improve the quality of the flats by drawing natural light into the property. A selection of 5 standard glazing units throughout allowed for a bespoke approach which also benefited from standardised units and construction further improving efficiency in the build.

The project is a great example of how the return on a site can be maximised with further value added by the architect and their approach to design and management of the planning process.
