About Me
James joined as Co-Director in 2009, having previously worked at Granit in his year out and post part 2. He studied at the University of Portsmouth and gained his Part 3 qualification at London’s South Bank University. Whilst driving forward the design aspects of all projects in the office and ensuring the team deliver a great service to all our clients, he is also responsible for business development in both the private client and commercial investor client sectors. He also leads the practice’s sustainability agenda, encouraging clients to employ retrofit measures and reduce energy consumption in their buildings. Inspired by the works of early California modernists like Richard Neutra and Craig Ellwood, he believes in a modern yet contextual architecture.
An active networker, he can often be found at property networking events like Urbano, the Property Hub or MIPIM, as well as the many conferences and seminars on construction like Ecobuild, or Grand Designs Live. He is a member of the AECB, promoting best practice in energy efficiency, and the NLA (New London Architecture) keeping abreast of developments in the housing sector.
Away from work he is kept fully occupied by his three-year-old daughter and his tabby cat Scarpa.
