We are currently working up detailed proposals for this house in Earlsfield, South London, for which we obtained planning consent for earlier this year to extend and remodel. A single storey rear extension at ground level will provide a larger kitchen and dining area, opening up onto a deck for alfresco eating, as well as new utility and a reconfigured staircase taking you up to first floor and a new loft conversion containing a master bedroom and en suite. Below the new extension is a semi-basement playroom, with clerestory windows looking onto the garden and internally connected to the living room above by a new internal staircase. A timber slatted screen forms a ‘veil’ and balustrade to the rear elevation of the terrace. Work is due to go on site late 2014 or early 2015.
