Energy Efficient New Build House On-site in Barnes

We have commenced on-site with an energy-efficient new build house in Barnes in the London Borough of Richmond.

Having received planning permission in 2022 to replace the existing dilapidated house, we designed a contemporary, highly energy-efficient home for our clients – who live next door and had eyed up an opportunity to buy the house and create a new home from scratch.

The new terraced house maximises the site’s footprint with a basement and three storeys above ground. We have created a playroom, utility and storage areas at the basement level. At ground level, a snug and WC at the front of the house contrasts with a large family kitchen, dining and living space. We have two bedrooms on the first floor along with a family bathroom and a master suite across the whole of the top floor. Large glazing maximises the views and natural light to the rear.

To the front, the property is designed as a conventional-looking house, but to the rear, a palate of brick, aluminium framed glazing and metal cladding will create a bold contemporary design.

The house is designed to surpass current building regulations regarding thermal efficiency, with particular attention paid to overheating control by looking closely at glazing areas. We worked closely with energist consultants to carry out thermal modelling of the proposals during the design process.

We are working with Wishbone Design and Build, the main contractors on the project. Contact us here to find out more.
