We are thrilled to have gained planning permission in Lambeth for a project that includes a single storey rear extension to a property in Streatham.

Our client’s main objective is to create a more family oriented home in their mid-terrace 3-storey property. They are especially keen to create an open plan space in the rear extension to provide a bigger living, kitchen and dining room that’s more suited to modern family life.

It is also key for our client to create a strong connection between the front and rear living spaces, but with the ability to divide off the rooms to create separate areas when needed. The extension is the main feature and we have designed a series of full height windows to the rea to provide a great view of the garden. This will also allow a significant amount of daylight to naturally brighten up the space due and take advantage of the South-East facing garden.

The use of materials will help to establish a good connection between the spaces throughout the house too. We’re exploring a simple minimalist palette of brick to match the existing stock, with external metal doors to create a contrast between the original house and the new extension. This will provide an exciting and contemporary addition to the property. We’ve also included timber throughout the areas in flooring, wall covering and joinery, creating a common thread to ensure the spaces flow from one to the other.

We’re delighted to have secured planning permission in Lambeth for this project, and we’re now progressing with RIBA stages 3 & 4. This work involves the technical and interior design details that will help us to get the project on site in autumn this year.
