The Brief:

Our clients contacted us with a planning application in place, but they needed help to realise the full potential of their project. Overall the brief was to create a modern family home without losing too much garden.

The Solution:

Our architectural and interior design team worked together to design a home with a large basement, rear ground floor extension and reconfigured floor plan. We minimised the garden development by putting extra accommodation in the basement and creating a better connection between existing rooms.

The basement features a home cinema and family room, bespoke wine storage, utility room, guest bedroom and bathroom. The rear ground floor extension has a new kitchen which Espresso Design supplied. A clever reconfiguration of the first floor has allowed for a contemporary master ensuite and generally provides better use of space.

A mixture of glazed and pocket doors throughout the ground floor has created an open and airy atmosphere whilst still allowing each room to be closed off for privacy if required.

The wine storage has a significant impact as you walk down the stairs into the basement due to fully glazed panels allowing views of the joinery and wine displays.

We worked with our clients to select exciting materials and finishes for the finishing touches, including light fittings, wall finishes, tiles, and flooring for the interiors. They were happy to be a bit adventurous with colours and patterns and selected good quality materials, making a great finished product. Bespoke joinery has transformed the internal spaces throughout the home.

The Result:

A modern family house our clients are delighted to call home.
