I was recently asked to speak at the Knowledge Transfer Network’s Front Meeting of Skills event all about BIM.
BIM is short for building information modelling and it is a key tool in how we design buildings at Granit. Not only does it enable us to design effectively and communicate design choices to our clients via 3D visuals, it is also key in how we collaborate with the other professionals such as structural, or M&E engineers.
My presentation was largely about how to use BIM for green retrofit projects and I talked a lot about our project in Lambourn Road, Clapham – which we designed and built as an example of what’s possible with green retrofit. There are also two other case studies of projects where we have used the technology extensively throughout the design process, one in Battersea and the other St John’s Wood.
You can see my presentation below and I welcome any questions in the comments below too. You can also reach me here if you would like to talk about building information modelling or green retrofit options.
